A track tells you where a product for a niche would live. The track tabs in the library let you look at one kind of product at a time, with a real count on each tab.
The tracks
Open Opportunities and pick a tab at the top:
- "All": every niche in the library.
- "SaaS": web apps and online services. A niche that fits no other track lands here.
- "Mobile": apps for phones and tablets.
- "Browser extensions": add-ons for web browsers.
- "WordPress": plugins and tools for WordPress sites.
- "Developer tools": APIs, code editor add-ons and other tools for developers.
TrendGap sets the track from the niche's type and ecosystem, so each niche sits in exactly one track. A niche in a track that has no tab yet still shows under "All".
Track pages
Some tabs add a header above the cards with facts about that track. For "Mobile", "WordPress" and "Browser extensions" it shows:
- "Niches in this track".
- The complaints of the last 90 days, by source.
- "Store listings measured": how many of the apps, plugins or extensions linked to these niches TrendGap has measured.
- "Incumbents in this track": the measured listings people use today, with links to their store pages and to the niche reports.
When the developer tools page is switched on, the "Developer tools" tab shows the same kind of header for code projects: complaints from developer forums, Q&A sites and code issue trackers, "Repositories measured" and "Open-source incumbents in this track".
On Free, the incumbents and the complaint counts in these headers cover only the niches your plan opens.
Filters that come with tracks
Once store listings are measured, "More filters" adds two filters about the products people use today: "Incumbent last update" (for example "Not updated in 365+ days") and "Incumbent size" (the largest listing under a number of installs). They help you find niches where the existing products look neglected or small.
If Trends is in your menu, its explorer uses the same tracks: pick one in "All tracks" to see the search topics for that kind of product. See Trends.
The Local gap filter
When the Local gap filter is available, "More filters" holds a "Local gap" option for countries in the Balkans: Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Pick "Local gap in" a country. The list then shows niches where at least one app linked to the niche is confirmed as not sold in that country's App Store. A few more rules on score, evidence and local ratings apply too.
- Open "How Local gap works" under the filters to read the full rule.
- While the filter is on, each open card says how many of its linked apps are not sold there, and when that was checked.
- Local gap is part of paid plans. On Free it shows as "Local gap: Basic and up".
- It filters niches only. It does not change the language of the app or the prices.
