Complaints show the pain; Trends shows whether people search for a fix. "Trends" in the menu lists software, app, extension, developer and e-commerce topics with their monthly searches and growth. Topics join the catalogue after review.
The explorer
Open Trends. Each row is a topic with its monthly searches, its growth, a line of the last 48 months and a status. Where measured, rows also show searches in AI assistants, web sentiment, complaints of the last 90 days and the number of linked niches.
The status tabs ("All", "Exploding", "Rising", "Steady", "Seasonal" and "Peaked") come from the stored monthly searches with fixed thresholds; a tab shows only when it has topics. Open "How statuses are set" to read the rules. No forecast model is used.
Filter and sort
- "All categories" and "All tracks" narrow the list.
- "Growth window" switches growth between "3 mo", "12 mo" and "4 yr".
- "Brand and non-brand" keeps or drops brand names, and "Has a niche" shows only topics with an idea in the library.
- "Sort" orders by growth over the chosen window, "Monthly searches" or "Newest tracked", highest or lowest first. Paid plans can also sort by "Speed" and filter by volatility.
Where "Save this search" shows on the page, you can save these filters and get a note when a topic newly matches. See Search and saved searches.
A topic page
Click a topic to open its page:
- The figures at the top, where measured: monthly searches, 12-month and 4-year growth, cost per click, keyword difficulty, intent and searches in AI assistants.
- "Search demand": the monthly line, and a weekly index where 100 is the peak week.
- "Indicators": growth, speed, seasonality and volatility, each with its formula.
- "Seasonal outlook": how the same months did in past years. It is not a forecast.
- "Pain behind this trend": the niches linked to the topic and their complaints of the last 90 days.
If you use the watchlist, "Watch" at the top of the page follows the topic. The Trends menu entry also holds Pain clusters.
Keyword deep dive
Not in the catalogue? Look up any keyword:
- Click "Keyword deep dive" at the top of Trends to jump to the lookup box.
- Under "Look up any keyword", type a keyword and click "Look up".
- A window shows the price in credits and your balance before anything is charged. Click the button that starts with "Look up for" to run the lookup, or "Cancel" to stop.
You get the keyword's monthly searches in the United States, its multi-year line, the 52-week index, the indicators and "Matching niches". A keyword that is already a tracked topic your plan opens costs nothing: TrendGap offers its topic page instead. A lookup is still charged when the data source reports no search volume for the keyword. If no data source answers, your credits come back. If only some answer, you pay only for those parts.
Your lookups are private to your account. Find them again under "Your keyword lookups". Demand and keywords explains what the numbers mean.
Free and paid
Free shows the top topics of each category by monthly searches, and a count of the rest. Paid plans open every topic, plus speed, seasonality, volatility, the seasonal outlook and searches per complaint. On Pro and above, a CSV button at the top exports the current view; exported rows count toward a monthly allowance. Plan details are on Pricing.
