Ask TrendGap is a chat for questions about TrendGap's data. Type a question in plain words. It reads the niches, complaints, trends, companies and alerts you can open, then answers in a few short statements. Each statement links to the data it came from.
Where you can ask
- The "Ask TrendGap" page, in the menu under "Stay updated". Your conversations are listed next to the chat, or below it on a small screen.
- The "Ask TrendGap" card on Home. "All conversations" opens the same conversation on the Ask page.
- "Ask about this niche" at the top of a report your plan opens. Its answers read that report first, then the rest of TrendGap's data.
Ask your first question
- Open Ask TrendGap and click "New conversation".
- Type your question, for example: which mobile niches have the most complaints?
- Check the send button. It shows what this answer costs: "Ask · Free" while you have free questions left, otherwise the credits it costs.
- Click it, or press Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac).
- After "Reading TrendGap data…", the answer appears as a short list of statements.
- Scroll to "Sources" and open a source to see the data behind a statement.
How to read an answer
- "Sources" lists everything the answer cited, by its real name: a report, complaints, a trend, a company or an alert. Links open in a new tab.
- Short lines say what the answer read, for example "Read: niche search, complaints", and what it cost.
- TrendGap checks each answer against the data it read. A statement that cites no source, or states numbers the data does not hold, is removed.
- Ask never shows the title of a niche your plan does not open. An answer that cites one is hidden.
- If no data answers your question, it says so instead of guessing.
What Ask can and cannot do
Ask can search the library, read a report and its complaints, and look up trend topics, companies TrendGap measured and your own alerts, as far as those parts of TrendGap are open to you. Follow-up questions in the same conversation build on the earlier ones.
It cannot read the web, open niches your plan does not open, or change anything: it never adds a watch, starts a project or runs a paid tool.
Free questions, then credits
Your plan can include some free questions each calendar month. The month follows UTC, the world's standard time. How many each plan gets is on Pricing. The line under the question box shows how many you have left. Once they are used, it says what an answer costs and when your free questions start again.
The send button always shows the price before you ask. If the price changes before you send, TrendGap asks you to send the question again.
- An answer that fails does not use a free question.
- When you pay with credits and an answer fails or finds no data, you pay only for the AI work already done. The rest of the credits come back, and the answer says so.
- Your balance is in Settings. See Credits and credit packs.
Your conversations
- Each conversation is named after its first question. One started on a report also shows which niche it is about.
- Your plan sets how many conversations you keep and how many questions each one holds. The page shows both counts.
- To delete, click "Delete conversation" or "Delete all", then "Delete". It is for good, and credits already used are not returned. Wait until an answer is in before you delete its conversation.
- If your plan changes and an answer cites a niche you can no longer open, that answer is hidden. Your questions stay visible.
When connecting AI assistants is available, the page also shows "Ask from your own AI tools". See Connect your AI assistant.
