Market Radar shows who is launching and growing in each space. Every number on it is a stored measurement with its date, and a list without data says so instead of showing a figure. Open Market Radar under "Discover" in the menu; the tabs across the top switch between its parts.

Overview

"Overview" puts the latest movement on one page: the biggest app chart climber when there is one, a card that takes you to your keyword monitors ("Open keyword monitors"), then the first rows of each list with a link to the full one.

Products and startups

This tab lists new and fast-growing products: launch posts on Show HN (the launch section of Hacker News), new GitHub projects with a site of their own, new entries and climbers in the US app charts, and new top websites. "Found via" says where each one came from and "First seen" when.

  • "Est. traffic": estimated monthly visits from search engines in the US, and their change. A dash means not measured.
  • "Chart rank": the best rank in a US app chart and the places moved since the previous snapshot.
  • "Show HN": the points on its launch post.
  • "Momentum": "Rising", "Steady" or "Falling", or "Not enough data" until there are enough measurements.

On a paid plan you can filter by "Momentum" and "Type" and sort by "Momentum", "Traffic growth", "Newest" or "Show HN points".

App chart movers

TrendGap keeps its own snapshots of the App Store's top free and top paid charts, read once a day, for the US and other storefronts (a storefront is one country's edition of the store). Pick a "Store", a "Storefront" and a "Chart", then use "Show" for "All entries", "Climbers", "Fallers" or "New entries". A move is shown only when there is a recent enough earlier snapshot to compare with; otherwise the page says no moves are shown. The Android store's charts fill in once their feed is switched on.

Top websites

Websites ranked by their estimated visits from search engines in each software category (US), refreshed monthly, with the change between the last two months and their move in the ranking. Pick a "Category" to switch lists. This list fills once its feed is switched on; until then the page says so.

When developer signals are switched on, the "Developers" tab lists the open-source repositories gaining GitHub stars fastest and the topics they share. Until then the tab says they are not available yet.

Company profiles

Click "Company profile" on a row of a Radar list, or next to an incumbent in a report, to open its profile. Ready-made profiles exist for companies already in TrendGap's data (incumbents, top websites, trending products and chart apps), and they are free to open. Depending on the company, a profile shows:

  • "Search profile": its keywords, competitors and tech stack, when available.
  • "Organic visits measured by TrendGap" and its place in "Top websites".
  • "Chart positions" and store ratings for an app.
  • "Incumbent in these niches": the niches your plan opens where it is an app to beat, with the complaints about it.

On a paid plan, a website's profile may offer "Load the 12-month trend". For a domain outside TrendGap's data, the page offers a private company profile instead, which is a tool that costs credits and needs Tools on your menu. Its price shows before you run it; see How tools work.

What each plan sees

  • Free sees the top rows of each list and the real count of the rest. Every paid plan sees the full lists.
  • Filters and sorting on "Products and startups" are for paid plans.
  • On Pro and above, "Download CSV" exports a list. Downloads count against your plan's monthly export rows (see Pricing).
  • On a paid plan, a niche's report also lists "Recent launches in this space".
