The watchlist keeps everything you follow in one table. TrendGap re-measures each watch from the data it collects and shows the latest value, the change since the check before and when it was last checked. Open it from "Watchlist" under "Stay updated" in the menu.
What you can watch
- "Niche": an idea from the library. It follows new complaints about the niche and new apps entering the top results for its keyword.
- "App": an iPhone or Android app. It follows its rating, its number of ratings and its 1-2 star reviews.
- "Keyword": any keyword you type. It shows its monthly Google searches once TrendGap holds them.
- "Trend": a trend topic, with its monthly searches.
- "Ranking": a keyword from the rank tracker, with your site's Google position.
- "AI brand": your brand, with how often AI assistants name it in their answers, checked weekly.
- "Domain": a website's estimated visits from search engines (its organic traffic), checked monthly.
Add a watch
The quickest way: click "Watch" on a niche's report, and it turns to "Watching". You also find Watch buttons next to the incumbent apps in a report, on trend pages and in the keyword deep dive.
- Open "Watchlist" and click "Add watch".
- Type to search niches and trend topics, type any keyword, or paste the store link of an iPhone or Android app.
- Click "Watch" next to a result. The bottom of the dialog shows how many watches you have left.
When Tools is on your menu, three watch types start from a tool: add keywords in the rank tracker, choose "Monitor weekly" after a run of the AI visibility checker (Pro and above), or click "Watch this domain" on a traffic and competitor analysis. Other pages offer a watch too, such as "Watch this app" on a teardown and "Save & watch this market" on an idea you checked yourself.
Read the table
- "Watching": the name, with a line saying what is measured.
- "Last value": the latest measurement, such as complaints in the last seven days, a rating or monthly searches.
- "Change": the move since the check before, week over week or month on month.
- The small line next to it: the most recent checks at a glance.
- "Status": "Alert", "Heating", "Steady", "Cooling" or "Waiting for data".
- "Last checked": when the watch was last measured.
Use the type tabs to show one kind of watch (rankings, AI brands and domains get a tab once you have one), and "Sort" to order the list by "Biggest change", "Newest" or "Name". Open a row with the arrow at its start to see its latest alerts.
How often watches are checked
The note under the table, and for some watches the line under the name, tell you how often a watch is checked. In short:
- Niches and apps: re-checked by the weekly measure run.
- Keywords and trends: their search figures move when a new month of data arrives.
- Rankings: checked at least weekly. On Pro and above, some or all of your rank keywords are also checked every day.
- AI brands: checked weekly.
- Domains: checked monthly.
When daily complaint checks are on, the note under the table says so. A complaint alert compares two weeks that were checked the same way, so the first one can come two weeks or more after you add a watch.
Mute, pause and remove
- The bell on a row mutes that watch's alerts for 30 days. Click it again to turn alerts back on.
- The three-dot menu ("Watch actions") holds "Alert rules…", "Pause checks" (or "Resume checks") and "Remove watch".
- A paused watch is not measured and does not count toward your limits.
Limits and plan changes
The cards at the top show your watch limits. Free has one shared pool for all its watches. Paid plans count niches, apps and domains separately from keywords and trends, and rank keywords and AI brands have their own counts where your plan includes them. The numbers for each plan are on Pricing.
If your plan gets smaller, the newest watches over the limit are paused, never deleted. They show "Paused: over your plan's watches" and come back, oldest first, when there is room again. Watches you paused yourself stay paused until you resume them.
