Already have an idea? The idea evaluator checks it against the complaints, search demand and apps TrendGap has measured. You get a score, a plain verdict and the evidence behind it. Every run stays in your private vault, where only you can see it.
Describe your idea
- In the menu, under "Validate and build", click "Validate". The page is called "Idea evaluator".
- In the "Check an idea" card, type your idea in "Describe your idea". Say who has the problem, what the problem is, your solution, what makes it different, and who pays.
- Watch the checklist under the box. It marks "Who", "Problem", "Solution", "Difference" and "Money" as your text names them. This is a simple word check, not AI.
- If you like, set "Track" and "Region" to say where your idea fits. For a full report, also pick a "Tone of the critiques".
Stuck on the wording? Click "Improve my description". It uses one of the AI suggestions your plan includes each month and offers three rewrites: "Safe", "Precise" and "Bold". Click "Use this" to put one in the box.
Run a quick AI check
Click the "Quick check" button. It shows how many of your included checks are left this month. A quick check gives you:
- A verdict: "GO", "CONDITIONAL" or "NO-GO". It comes with a score out of 100 and a bar for each Gap Score factor: "Pain", "Demand", "Weak incumbents", "Room to win" and "Buildability". If there is too little measured data, the result says so instead of showing a score.
- "Quick take": one short line about your idea, written by AI.
- "Evidence we found": the niches (product ideas TrendGap found in real complaints) that match yours. Each one shows how close it is, its complaints in the last 90 days and a few quotes.
When your included checks are used up, a paid plan can run more for credits if extra checks are on sale. The button then shows the price, and "Run a paid quick check?" shows it again with your balance before you confirm. On Free, the page tells you when your checks reset. Pricing lists the checks each plan includes.
Get a full report
A full report goes deeper on the same data. When full reports are available, they cost credits on every plan, Free included. The "Full report" button shows the price. Then "Run a full report?" shows the price and your balance, and you click the "Run" button to confirm. If your balance is too small, you cannot confirm.
You can leave the page while the report is written. It lands in your "History". When the Inbox is available on your account, it also shows "Your full idea report is ready". A full report adds:
- "The verdict in a sentence".
- "Demand": monthly searches for your idea's keywords over the last 12 months.
- "Incumbents": the apps already in this market, with their ratings, price and last update.
- "Risks and fixes".
- "Critiques" from a customer, an investor, a competitor and a mentor, in the tone you picked.
- "3 pivots", each with a projected score marked "AI estimate".
- "Next steps".
Each block has a "Data" or an "AI" chip. "Data" means TrendGap measured it. "AI" means AI wrote it.
Check again and see the change
Click a run in "History" to open it. The form fills with that idea, so you can edit it and run it again. When you run the same idea again, the result shows the change against the last run.
Credits and failed runs
- A paid run always shows its price and your balance first. Nothing is charged until you confirm.
- If a run fails, nothing is charged, unless TrendGap had already paid for data or AI work. Then it keeps only the credits that cover that work and returns the rest. The run says how many were kept.
- If an included quick check fails, it goes back to your allowance. The exception is when the AI work was already paid for: then it counts as one of your included checks, and the message says so.
- If the critiques of a full report could not be written, their credits go back, minus what covers data and AI work already paid for.
- Your balance is in Settings on the "Credits" tab, when that tab shows. See Credits and credit packs.
What you can do with a finished run
- "Save & watch this market", when the Watchlist is available on your account. See Your private idea vault.
- "Share link" on paid plans, and "PDF" on Pro and above. Before a link is made, you confirm that anyone with it can read your idea. See Share, PDF and export.
- "Start a project", when projects are available. See Projects.
- "Delete" removes the run from your vault.
At the top of the page, "Compare ideas" puts your runs next to niches. See Compare ideas side by side. At the bottom, "More ways to validate" links to the "Teardown", "Feature matrix" and "Idea generator" tools when they are available. See Teardown, feature matrix and idea generator.
