Create your account and sign in

You need a free account to use the TrendGap app. Signing up needs no card.

Sign up

1. Click "Start free" at the top of any page on the TrendGap website. The card says "Create your free account".
2. If you see "Continue with Google", you can use it and skip the password. Otherwise, type your email and a password. "Name (optional)" can stay empty.
3. Choose a password with at least eight characters.
4. If a short security check appears, let it finish.
5. Click "Create free account". A "Check your inbox" screen shows the address we sent the confirmation email to.

Use a real email address that you can receive mail at. The form refuses throwaway addresses. By continuing, you agree to the Terms and the Privacy Policy.

Confirm your email

1. Open the email from TrendGap and click the confirmation link.
2. You see "Email confirmed. You can sign in now." Click "Sign in".
3. Log in with your email and password.

If you signed up with "Continue with Google", there is no confirmation email to wait for.

No email? Check your spam folder, then click "Resend email" on the "Check your inbox" screen. You can also open Confirm your email, enter your address and click "Send confirmation link". If a link has expired or was already used, the page says "That link didn't work" and lets you ask for a new one.

If you try to log in before you confirm, TrendGap sends you a fresh link. The message on the card ends with a "Need another link?" link.

Log in

1. Click "Log in" at the top of the website. The card says "Log in to TrendGap".
2. Click "Continue with Google" if that is how you signed up, or enter your email and password.
3. Click "Log in". TrendGap opens the app on your home page.

The welcome questions

The first time you log in, TrendGap may open a short welcome in three steps. Your answers become your founder profile. TrendGap uses it to work out how well each idea fits you ("Fit for you"). Only you see your answers.

1. "What brings you here?": pick your goal, for example "Find something to build" or "Grow a product I already have".
2. "Which platforms do you build for?": pick your platforms and the categories you care about. You still see every idea. This only changes your fit.
3. "About you": your skills, hours per week, budget and region, and the emails you want. Every email box starts unticked.

Click "Continue" to save a step and move on, and "Finish" at the end. "Skip" leaves the welcome at any step. The welcome opens on its own only once.

To change your answers later, open Settings. On the "Profile" tab, edit "Founder profile" and click "Save profile". Your email choices are on the "Email" tab. While your profile is incomplete, a "Finish your profile" link on Home also takes you back to the steps.

If you took the founder fit quiz on the TrendGap website in the same browser, the welcome offers "Use my quiz answers". Nothing is saved until you click it, and you can change any answer before you finish.

Forgot your password

1. On the log-in card, click "Forgot password?".
2. Enter your email and click "Send reset link".
3. Open the email and click the link. It works for a limited time only.
4. Type your new password in "New password" and "Confirm new password", then click "Save new password".
5. You see "Password updated". For your security, TrendGap signs you out on all devices, so log in again.

If the link has expired, the page says "Link expired". Click "Request a new link" and start again. If you signed up with Google, you can keep using "Continue with Google" to log in.

To change your password while you are logged in, or to add one to an account you created with Google, use the "Password" card on the "Profile" tab of Settings. See Your account settings.

Sign out

Click your initials at the top right and choose "Sign out". To end every session at once, for example after using a shared or lost device, open Settings. Under "Sign out of all devices", click "Sign out everywhere".
