What the free plan includes

What a free account opens: today's free idea, a fixed preview of the library and small allowances. What stays locked, and how to see more.
Can't find an answer?

Write to support at trendgap.io and a person on the team will answer.

A free account costs nothing and needs no card. You can read real ideas from the library, check a few ideas of your own and try many parts of TrendGap on a small scale.

Today's free idea

Each day, TrendGap picks one idea from the library and opens it to every account until midnight UTC. On Home it is the "Today's free niche" card. In the library, its card carries the "Today's free pick" chip. On Home, click "Open today's pick" to see a short summary in a side panel, then "Open full report" to read the report.

The same card on Home also shows "Tomorrow's niche": the next pick's track and a countdown ("Unlocks in ..."). The daily pick is an idea already in the library, not a new idea made for the day. A fixed rule chooses it from the ideas that have:

  • A Gap Score above the middle of the library. Before any scores exist, moderate or strong evidence counts instead.
  • A recent complaint.
  • No turn as the free pick in the recent past.

On a day when no idea meets the rule, there is no free pick rather than a weaker one.

Free previews

A small share of the library is open to Free accounts all the time. These cards carry the "Free preview" chip. Previews do not rotate, so a preview you open today is still open tomorrow.

On Free, the evidence section of a report shows only a few of its complaints. Paid plans show more.

What stays locked

Every other idea shows as a locked card titled "Member report". The card shows the idea's track and platform, but not its title, numbers or evidence. If you open a link to a locked report, the page shows what you would get. "The numbers" shows a few headline counts, and "In the full report" lists the sections a paid plan opens.

Some filters and sorts in the library only work on the ideas your plan opens. On Free, they apply to today's pick and your previews. Paid plans also add things Free does not include, such as Playbooks, history charts, the evidence CSV and share links.

What else Free includes

Depending on which parts of TrendGap are available to you, a free account also gets small allowances of:

  • Quick AI checks of your own ideas each month. See Quick idea check.
  • Watches: follow a few ideas, apps or keywords. See Your watchlist.
  • Questions to Ask TrendGap each month. See Ask TrendGap.
  • Saved searches that tell you about new matches. See Search and saved searches.
  • Exports to AI coding tools and app builders, on the ideas you can open.
  • Trends: the top topics of each category.
  • The first items of the newest Weekly Gap Report.
  • Tools: some cost no credits, and many others use credits. When credits are in use, a free account gets a small monthly credit balance. New accounts also get welcome credits for a limited time.

The exact amounts are on the Pricing page. When credits are in use, your balance shows in the top bar and in Settings on the "Credits" tab. The free tools page on the website lists the public tools that are open right now.

How to see more

Every paid plan opens every idea in the library. The plans differ in how much you can do each month and in their credits, not in which ideas you can read.

  1. Open Pricing, or click "Get Basic" on a locked card.
  2. Pick a plan and finish the checkout.
  3. Manage your plan any time in Settings on the "Plan and billing" tab, or click "Plan and credits" in the menu.
