You can cancel your paid plan yourself at any time. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, you aren't charged again, and then your account moves to the Free plan.
Cancel your plan
- Open Settings and the "Plan and billing" tab, or click "Plan and credits" in the menu.
- In the "Cancel" card, click "Cancel subscription".
- The dialog asks "Before you go, what's the main reason?" Pick an answer and click "Continue". For "It's missing something I need" or "Something else", you can add a comment. You can also skip the question with "Cancel without answering".
- The next step shows an offer that fits your answer, or a reminder that moving to Free keeps your data (see below).
- Click "No thanks, cancel my subscription", or "Cancel subscription" when there's no offer. "Keep my plan" closes the dialog and changes nothing.
A message confirms the date your subscription ends. Until then, the "Plan and billing" tab says "Ends on" with that date. You can also cancel from Polar's billing portal ("Manage billing"), or by asking our support team (see Give feedback and get support). If your subscription is paused or a payment failed, the "Cancel" card is hidden: cancel through "Manage billing".
The offer you may see
- "It's too expensive" on a monthly plan: yearly billing for the same plan ("Pay less with yearly billing"), and a discount on your next monthly payment or payments. The discount offer is available once per customer.
- "It's too expensive" on a yearly plan: the plan one step down from your next renewal, when it costs less than what you pay now.
- Any other answer: a reminder that moving to Free keeps your data.
Each offer states its price and when it starts. Nothing changes unless you click the offer's button, and a price offer only appears when it would cost you less.
Changed your mind?
Until the end date, the "Plan and billing" tab shows a notice with "Resume subscription". Click it to keep your plan. It then renews on that date as usual.
What happens on Free
- Your tracked niches and lists stay in your account, and you can subscribe again at any time.
- Watches and projects above what Free includes are paused, not deleted. If you subscribe again, the ones that fit your plan come back.
- Niches outside Free show as locked again, apart from today's free niche and the preview.
Why there's no pause button
TrendGap doesn't offer pausing. You can cancel, or move to a smaller plan, instead. If your subscription ever shows as "Paused", your account works like the Free plan until it restarts. To restart it sooner, click "Resume now", then "Resume and pay today": a new billing period starts today, and your saved payment method is charged today.
Refunds
- Cancelling doesn't refund past payments.
- Refunds are handled by Polar, our merchant of record, under Polar's refund policy and applicable law. The Terms of Service explain the details.
- To ask for a refund, write to us from the Contact page or with "Contact support" in Settings, or contact Polar.
- When a payment is refunded, the credits it granted are taken back. For a partial refund, the matching share is taken back.
- A full refund of your current plan payment also ends that subscription at once. Refunding only an upgrade charge keeps it.
- A refunded credit pack takes back the refunded share of its unused credits.
If a payment fails
If a renewal payment doesn't go through, the "Plan and billing" tab shows "Payment failed" and a banner with an "Update your card" button. Updating your card retries the payment right away.
- If you haven't had one in the past year, you get a short grace period: your plan keeps working until the date in the banner.
- New credits wait until the payment goes through.
- If you already had a grace period in the past year, or once it ends, your plan's features stop until the payment succeeds.
- Plan changes and credit pack purchases wait until the payment is fixed.
