TrendGap helps you find a product worth building. It reads what people complain about in apps and software tools. It groups those complaints into ideas and scores each one, so you can see where today's products leave people unhappy.
Complaints in, scored ideas out
Every idea starts with real complaints. TrendGap collects public complaints and low-star reviews from places like app stores, developer forums and Q&A sites, plugin and add-on directories, and code issue trackers. Complaints that describe the same problem become one idea. The app also calls an idea a niche or an opportunity. The three words mean the same thing.
For each idea, TrendGap keeps dated counts:
- How many complaints were posted in the last 90 days.
- Which existing apps people use for the problem today (the incumbents), and how they are rated.
- How often people search for the problem, where TrendGap has that data.
How an idea is scored
- Evidence strength says how much backing an idea has: "Strong", "Moderate", "Thin" or "Evidence pending". The label follows published rules over the complaints of the last 90 days.
- The Gap Score runs from 0 to 100. A fixed formula works it out from stored counts: pain, demand, weak incumbents, room to win and how hard the product is to build. AI does not set or change the score.
- An idea without enough data shows "Score pending" instead of a guess.

The opportunity report
Each idea has a full report in three parts: "Is it real?", "What to build" and "How to ship". Reports are written with AI from the stored complaints and numbers. Small chips mark each part as "Data", "AI" or "Standard", so you can tell measured facts from AI-written text. See Read an opportunity report.
What you can do with it
- Find: browse the library, pick a track and sort by Gap Score, evidence or how well an idea fits you. See Browse the library.
- Judge: read the evidence, demand and competitors behind an idea before you commit.
- Check your own idea: test an idea you already have against what people complain about. See Check your own idea.
- Watch: follow an idea, an app or a keyword, and get an alert in your inbox when its numbers move. See Your watchlist.
- Build: turn a report into a prompt for AI coding tools and app builders, or into a project with build and launch tools. See Build this with AI.
The menu shows the parts of TrendGap that are available to you. Some parts are on paid plans only. Pricing lists what each plan includes.
Who it is for
TrendGap is made for people who build: indie hackers, SaaS founders, app developers, agencies and plugin makers. You do not need a technical background to read a report. If you have skills and some time but no idea yet, start with the library. If you already have an idea, start by checking it.
What a score can and cannot tell you
A high Gap Score and strong evidence are good reasons to look closer. They are not a promise that a product will sell. Use the report to understand the problem. Then talk to the people who complain before you spend months building.
